Residents should check their waste and recycling calendars to find out when the Household Kerbside Clean Up is happening in their zone and what items are collected.
For poisons, pool chemicals, acids and other problem items there’s the NSW EPA’s Household Chemical Clean Out on Saturday, March 17, which allows people to drop off such items at the Community Recycling Centre at Minnamurra.
For those with much-loved items that still have life left in them, there’s Second Hand Saturday on Saturday, March 24.
This popular event allows residents to sell, swap or trade to their heart’s content. Those wanting to set up shop can book at site online at www.kiama.nsw.gov.au
Registrations close Thursday, March 22.
If you can’t manage to take advantage of these events, the Community Recycling Centre is open Monday to Saturday, and can handle a wide range of recyclable and problem items.
