KIAMA LIONS

Last weekend a small committee of Lions interviewed a number of year 10/11 candidates for our sponsorship for an Outward Bound Course in April.  After a lot of deliberations, we decided that we will sponsor 3 young people. We will look forward to hearing of their adventures when they return.

Our last Lions meeting was a Happy Hour and was an outstanding success. This next few weeks will see us participating in the Clean Up Australia, Red Cross Calling and Driver Reviver.

The Big Red Kidney Bus will be visiting Kiama (Easts Beach) on the morning of March 8. Besides being an advice agency regarding the health of Kidneys, It is also a mobile Dialysis centre for holiday makers. Currently they are using a bus from Victoria, but Lions Clubs in the Toronto area are fundraising to buy a bus for NSW.

Our Carers Cottage in Shoalhaven St. is now getting a new floor of Cypress pine which is going to look spectacular and we will start to paint the outside with white undercoat next week.

KIAMA ROTARY

The Club held a fun social evening at Speak and Easy on Collins Street last week. By coincidence, there were also two Probus Clubs from Canberra visiting the restaurant, so we enjoyed meeting them and sharing some fellowship.

Kiama Rotary has sponsored the creation of several Probus Clubs in the Kiama area. The primary purpose of Probus is to provide meetings and fellowship for retired and semi-retired persons who value opportunities to meet with others of similar interest.

There is still time for the public to submit nominations for the 2018 Rotary NSW & ACT Emergency Services Community Awards. Fellow Service Members and the general public are encouraged to submit nominations via the Awards website: www.RotaryESCawards.org.au. Nominations Close: March 28.
