Taught by James Cotton, of Muddy Waters band, Deak is known globally for his masterful harmonica playing.
This trip will be Deak’s first time in Australia and in addition to performing at the festival, he will be hosting a 90 minute workshop – revealing the secrets that blues legends including Cotton, Charlie Musselwhite and others have taught him on blues harmonica.

Straight from the Mississippi Delta town of Clarksdale USA, Deak knows all things blues, including blues harmonica, guitar slingin’ hill country blues and the techniques of integrating the two together.
Deak will also showcase and explain the tricks behind his integration of harmonica and driving electric guitar, a style he calls “Hill country blues”.
Over the years, Deak has played with multiple bands and has shown his flexibility as a musician in the varying styles of his performances.
For about eight years, he showcased his innovative one-man show at the King Biscuit Blues Festival in Arizona, as well as the Juke Joint Festival in Mississippi.
In 2016, Harp made his Jazzfest debut in New Orleans, where he was given a standing ovation by his audience.
Only a few months later, he delivered an entire week of knockout performances on his European tour in Fribourg, Switzerland.
