This means they can provide additional ultrasound services to the community.
They can now do not only X-rays and general ultrasounds but also obstetric ultrasounds, musculoskeletal ultrasounds and ultrasound guided injections.
They hope to expand even more in the future.
With a great team, they can provide an excellent level of care in a friendly and professional environment.
Their aim is to serve the needs of the local residents by providing a local radiology service which they hope will ultimately improve health outcomes.

The radiologists rostered to Kiama are often Dr Simon Hughes or Dr Brett Napier who have moved to the local area in the last few years and live in Gerringong.
“Radiology is a medical profession that specialists and GPs heavily rely on, using state of the art equipment to take images to diagnose and monitor injuries and diseases,” Dr Napier said.
“Decisions about a patient’s care are heavily influenced by what they find in these studies.
“Did you know radiologists can also perform a number of procedures such as joint injections, spinal injections and biopsies to diagnose and help treat conditions?
“Commonly used tests include X-ray, CT, ultrasound and MRI and the choice of test will ultimately depend on the clinical situation and what test is most appropriate.”
Imaging tests available at South East Radiology include bone density testing, CT scanning, MRI, mammography, X-ray and dental X-ray, facet joint injection, needle biopsy, vascular ultrasound, MSK ultrasound and pregnancy ultrasound (including nuchal translucency).
Most people know about the use of ultrasound in pregnancy but ultrasound can also be used to assess organs inside the abdomen, musculoskeletal structures, blood vessels and for breast cancer imaging.
“It is also a very useful test in children,” Dr Napier added. “We use ultrasound as it is safe and does not use any ionising radiation.”
Kiama Medical Imaging is part of South East Radiology, a proudly independent company that provides medical imaging services from Tahmoor and Bowral in the north to Bega and Merimbula in the south.
The equipment you see in their departments is state of the art and has been maintained in accordance with strict EPA guidelines.
With the best quality images available, it facilitates the most accurate diagnosis for GPs and specialists.
They also aim to offer a more personal and quality driven service to the community that they serve.
“We moved here a little over three years ago,” Dr Napier said. “Kiama/Gerringong/Gerroa offers a friendly and relaxed lifestyle – it is a great place to bring up kids.”
Also locals, Renee Maounis is the receptionist at Kiama and Clare Frost is one of their friendly and professional ultrasound technologists.
This year South East Radiology is also co-sponsoring the Kiama Sevens Rugby that is celebrating 46 years.
The rugby is kicking off from February 24, which is very exciting for the community.
