Congratulations to Lion Jim Carney and his gallant team of helpers who cooked up a storm for the Commonwealth Games Baton Relay as it passed through Kiama. it was hot work and they sold a lot of drinks.
This week’s dinner meeting will hear from our Mayor about his days as a dairy farmer. We will also be taking nominations for next year’s President and Management team.
Our Carers Cottage has now reached the important stage of lock-up. Thanks to the great guys at Timms Roofing we now have a shiny new roof which makes the cottage look really clean and tidy. The interior team has just finished laying the sub floor throughout and are also working outside fitting the new eaves. We are now preparing for the painting of the outside while we still have the scaffolding up.
We look forward to seeing you at the markets on the 18th.
Last week, the club had the pleasure of operating a barbeque at Kiama Showground for the Kiama leg of the 2018 Gold Coast XXI Commonwealth Games, Queen’s Baton Relay. This was a wonderful community event with thousands of school children and locals coming out across town to celebrate the historic event. The Queen’s Baton Relay Organising Committee reported that it was “the best crowds of its time in Australia”. We congratulate Kiama Council, local schools and other service clubs who helped make the day such a success.
