The Honeybees is a well known Sydney-based a cappella gospel choir formed in 1996 under the direction of acclaimed musician Tony Backhouse.
Although not a religious choir, the Honeybees find inspiration in the passionate, joyous and engaging quality of the gospel and soul genres. Their live performances of soulful, foot-stomping traditional gospel and related numbers leaving you feeling uplifted and inspired.
The choir has performed for a wide range of events over the years from fundraising concerts, weddings, festivals and graduation ceremonies, to high profile corporate functions and radio broadcasts. Each year the choir hosts two special functions with proceeds being donated to a worthy charity.
Under the direction of current Musical Director Stephen Clarke, the Honeybees have embraced exciting new repertoire and performance opportunities. With talented soloists and an excellent ensemble sound, the Honeybees are highly engaging and entertaining.
Annual membership is $50 and will be available at the door. Membership of the club brings substantial benefits, providing entry to four concerts free of charge plus a discounted entry for a fifth concert.
