The surf pop duo’s single Homely Feeling was No 54 on the list.
To avoid being part of the Australia Day date change debate, the national broadcaster ran its annual Triple J’s Hottest 100 list a day later, on Saturday, January 27.
Kendrick Lamar topped the list with HUMBLE.
Let Me Down Easy by ARIA award winning Australian indie rock group Gangs of Youth was No 2.
Chateau from Angus & Julia Stone rounded out the top three songs of the year.
The honour for Windang musicans Hockey Dad comes on the back of band members Billy Fleming and Zach Stephenson releasing their new single I Wanna Be Everybody and adding more shows to their capital city tour in March.
Hockey Dad's new album Blend Inn is due for release on February 9.
The album will also be stocked by international retailer Urban Outfitters in all of their American stores. Visit www.hockeydadband.com for tour details.
