A very busy market last weekend and we also helped the local Dragon Boat racers do a bit of fund-raising. This week we have our first dinner meeting of the year at the Leagues Club.
By the time you read this we will have completed our work at the Kiama Show where we ran the BBQ and manned many of the gates. We pray for good weather as this is a big fund-raiser for us and involves most of the members and associates.
On February 5, we will be running a BBQ for the Commonwealth Games Torch on its way to Brisbane.
The Cottage project progresses well. Timms Roofing has started to replace the roof and we are grateful to Josh at JH Electrics who has started work on the interior electrical connections. Once this is complete we will start with plumbing connections and then fit insulation and Gyprock. At that stage we will start to see a real difference inside.
KIAMA ROTARY
Kiama Rotary’s 27th annual, Antiques and Retro Charity Fair was held at Kiama Leisure Centre last weekend. The event was a great success with more than 1000 people attending over the two days.
Dealers from across the state exhibited a wide variety of antique and retro items including furniture, jewellery, china, silver, textiles, books and other collectables. This is the Club’s largest single fund-raiser of the year and profits go towards supporting Kiama Rotary’s various local and international projects.
We thank all dealers, family, friends and supporters who helped make the fair such a great success. It was a lot of hard work, so members and family enjoyed a relaxing evening at the Blue Diamond afterwards.
On January 26, we ran our traditional Australia Day barbeque at Surf Beach. We will be back on deck on February 5 to join other local service clubs and provide one of the multiple barbeque stalls operating around town for the Commonwealth Games Queen’s Baton relay.
