The Kiama Show is reportedly the third oldest agricultural show in the state and one of the oldest in the country.
This year’s show will take place at Kiama Showground on Friday and Saturday.
It will feature plenty of the attractions punters have been enjoying for decades - such as hundreds of pavilion exhibits, cattle judging, show jumping, rides, fireworks and the ever-popular wood chop.
There will also be more recent show favourites, such as the ARD FMX stunt motorbikes and the Rooftop Express Wild West Show.
Rooftop Express combines showmanship, stunts, horses and cattle with a great dose of slapstick and good old-fashioned Aussie humour.
Kiama Show Society president Michael Brennan said the 170th show was a great time to reflect on Kiama’s agricultural past as a dairy producer and the important role the show has had in the Kiama community.
“The Kiama Show has always been a significant part of the fabric of the town,’’ Mr Brennan said.
“It provided a great opportunity for people to catch up and was important in bringing town and country together.
“While mounting agricultural shows and ensuring they remain relevant in increasingly urbanised communities is challenging, we couldn’t be prouder that the event is celebrating this fantastic milestone.”
