Brothers Dean and Gavin Aitken defeated the defending champs Danny Keenan/Geoff McIntyre 14 – 13 in difficult conditions.
The Aitkens, in their first competition since joining the club, will now face 2013/14 champions Terry Boniface and Mick Weir in the last four.
Boniface/Weir easily accounted for Brad Rossiter/Bill Toulmin 28 – 6, handling the windy conditions much better than their opponents.
In the other half of the draw, club champion Russell Campbell, who has teamed up with 2017 Most Improved Bowler Brian Vickers, defeated Craig Coleman/Kevin Pepper 18 – 17 in a final end thriller.
Vickers/Campbell will face Murray Sheather/Neville Norris who ended the brilliant run of Chris Spaul/Gary Melleuish 18 – 12 on Saturday.
In the minor pairs, Barry Breasley/Peter McBeath came from behind to defeat Peter Starr/Eric McAuley 26 – 17 and reach the final four.
Semi-finals for both major and minor competition will be held this weekend before pairs finals on January 28.
