A NSW Police spokeswoman said the male driver allegedly fled the single vehicle crash on foot.
The man crashed his white Commodore into a pole on Jamberoo Road, 10 kilometres west of Kiama.
“We haven’t confirmed if it has been stolen,” the spokeswoman said.
She said Polair were in the vicinity at the time and were called to assist in locating the man.
A dog unit is also on the ground, she confirmed. A perimeter has been established and police from Lake Illawarra Local Area Command are looking for the man.
The spokeswoman said some roads were blocked, but as the crews “cleared them” they would be opened up.
“Traffic on some roads in the area may be disrupted as the operation continues,” she said.
“Motorists are urged to look out for, and give way to, emergency vehicles.”
More to come.
