Batting first, the Jets compiled a solid first innings total of 255 from 77 overs, with numerous batsmen contributing to the total led by wicket keeper Jacob Barnes (64) who was well supported by Brendan Piggott (46), Jake Taylor (44) & Aidan Wearne (41).
The bowlers then went about making it a great day’s play for the Jets, taking three late wickets to leave Shellharbour in trouble at 3/10 off 10 overs by the end of the days play (Lachlan Hall 2/5, James Hayman)
Gerringong fourth grade have also started the new year in fine form with a strong victory over Albion Park.
Albion Park won the toss and elected to bat first but the Jets bowlers made regular inroads into the Albion Park batting line up due mainly to some very consistent line and length bowling and some quality fielding.
Albion Park were eventually bowled out for 122 off 40 overs (Brad Speering 3-11, Silas Lightfoot 2-10, Ed Costigan 1-4).
The Jets batsmen then went about their business in superb fashion knocking off the runs in 14 overs.
The Jets finished at 3/123 with Craig Mowbray starring scoring a rapid 59 including six 4s and four 6s and Srikanth Reddy finishing the game off with a big hitting 31no (four 4s and two 6s).
