The mare was struggling in the extreme heat and humidity, which was experienced across much of NSW over the weekend and into Monday.
The team erected a tarpaulin to shelter the horse from the direct sun and then with the assistance of a local equine veterinarian.
The horse was manoeuvred so she could lift herself with her stronger leg and managed to stand again.
Temperatures peaked at 33 degrees on Sunday, which was eight degree above the average in Kiama for January according to weather zone.
The mercury dropped to 29 degrees on Monday and is expected to stay between 23 and 27 degrees for the remainder of the week.
