The cookbook is a Kiama Coast Holiday Parks initiative and will consist of a compilation of holiday-makers’ best meals, snacks and treats that can be lovingly whipped up and devoured on the go, as well as showcasing the region and some of its local produce.
Kiama Mayor Mark Honey said the cookbook will serve as a precious memento for visitors who have holidayed with their loved ones within the Kiama Municipality.
“Food has the ability to transport us back to special moments in time, and there’s nothing quite like a good meal created and eaten with friends and family at a campsite,” Cr Honey said.
“Every campsite, caravan and cabin chef has a specialty meal they whip up while on holidays.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to make them a part of the ultimate camp keepsake, and to make sure they’re enjoyed for many years to come.”
Submissions can range from breakfast right through to dessert, and even a camping cocktail. It might be your favourite holiday breakfast, Dad’s seaside seafood special, Grandma’s biscuits or Uncle Jim’s delicious pasta salad.
The winner of the best recipe will win three nights’ accommodation in a luxury cabin, in a Kiama Coast Holiday Park of their choice. Three runner-up winners will score a Let's Go Caravan and Camping limited edition Monopoly board game, which features Kiama Coast Holiday Parks.
To enter, email recipes@kiama.nsw.gov.au with the recipe, a photo if you have one, and the subject line ‘Eat, Camp, Cook Competition’, by January 31, 2018.
