Kiama Farmers' Market welcomed Mayor Mark Honey to their market on Wednesday to auction off the first box of cherries for the season.

The winning bidder was the Camilleri Family, who paid $200 for the scrumptious five-kilogram box of cherries.
The proceeds of the auction went to Kiama Boomerang Bags to assist the busy community group to purchase supplies.
Camilla Kerr-Ruston from Kiama Boomerang Bags said she did not expect the cherries to fetch such a high price.
“It’s beautiful and in terms of keeping us going that will cover two sewing machines fully serviced, ready to make yet more bags,” she said.
Mrs Kerr-Ruston said the Boomerang Bags message was spreading far and wide.
“It has been incredible, just not here locally but I checked the Boomerang Bags website this morning and there are more than 500 groups in Australia alone now,” she said.
“It has spread around the world also, the group has started in Norway, so the word is spreading globally.”
