The new blimp and camera system, which are thanks to upgrades conducted in the off-season, took to the sky on Tuesday.
Kiama Council lifeguard and marine biologist Kye Adams was on-hand to launch the blimp.
“It was really good, it was a nice way to kick-off for our second season of the blimp,” he said.
“This year we have a new and improved blimp, which can handle more extreme weather conditions, so it can be in the sky more often, it has a better and higher quality camera, so it can provide better coverage of the beach.”
Project AIRSHIP will be the eye in the sky above Kiama until the end of the summer school holidays.
