GERRINGONG brothers Ashton and Korbin have been named in the Fijian rugby league team for their World Cup opener against the United States.
Ashton, who plays for the Toronto Wolfpack, and Korbin, who plays for the Brisbane Broncos, will start in the front row and back row respectively, for their Saturday night encounter at Townsville Stadium.
Group 7 product James Storer has been named on an extended bench for the clash.
Wests Tigers’ Kevin Naiqama will captain the side from fullback, with Melbourne’s Suliasi Vunivalu and Canterbury’s Marcelo Montoya as the wingers.
The two starting centre will be West Tiger’s Taane Milne and Manly-Warringah’s Akuila Uate.
Gold Coast star Jarryd Hayne will be partnered by Wentworthville’s Henry Raiwalui.
Ashton and Parramatta’s Kane Evans are the two props, while Manly-Warringah’s Apisai Koroisau as hooker.
The lock is Melbourne’s Tui Kamikamica, with Korbin and Penrith’s Viliame Kikau as the back rowers.
The bench includes St George Illawarra’s Joe Lovodua, Newcastle’s Jacob Saifiti, Sydney’s Eloni Vunakece, Gold Coast’s Petero Benjamin Nakubuwai, Catalans’ Brayden Wiliame, Port Kembla’s James Storer, London’s Junior Roqica and Canterbury’s Pio Seci.
The match will kick-off at 8.40pm AEDT.
