Mr Ward said he was extremely disappointed with ANZ’s head office decision to close down its branch in Fern Street, Gerringong in January 2018.
“Customers are fed up with banks putting profits first – and people last,” he said.
“This is a disappointing decision as this closure will inconvenience many ANZ customers in Gerringong, particularly our seniors.
This very poor decision taken by management in no way reflects upon the local ANZ staffers who work very hard at the Gerringong branch.

“The four pillars policy gives Australian banks unprecedented protection by the Australian Government. Banks like the ANZ should be taking care of their customers, not cutting its services in regional communities.
“This very poor decision taken by management in no way reflects upon the local ANZ staffers who work very hard at the Gerringong branch.
“It is such a shame that regional communities have to suffer because of bad planning and top-heavy corporate management structures,” Mr Ward concluded.
