In what was always going to be a close contest, Shellharbour aimed to use the open spaces of the oval to give dominant forwards Cole, White and Deegan one-out contests.
Suns on-ballers had to gain first use of the football and until the end of the third quarter Nowra challenged them in this area. The first three quarters were an even contest in tricky, windy conditions.
The Suns were being beaten in the centre contests, but their around the ground pressure and tackling created turnovers which they capitalised on.
The Suns had 70 per cent of the possession, but over-use could have spelt the end. At three-quarter time only 17 points separated the two teams.
The final quarter was to be the Brendan White show. White, in only his second game of 2014, set the field alight.
The Suns started to dominate in the centre bounces and their constant ground pressure gave the forwards first use. White finished off a great team effort with five last quarter goals.
The Suns ran away victors 13-4-82 to Nowra 5-8-38, White finishing with eight for the game.
Shellharbour plays arch-rivals Port Kembla at Kully Bay this Saturday, with reserve grade at 12.15pm and seniors at 2pm.
