The Kiama St John Ambulance volunteer spends many of his weekends on deck, ensuring people are cared for at events.
“It’s very rewarding, knowing I’m giving back to the community I was born in,” he said.
Since 2000, Paul has been volunteering for St John, and in 2011 he was appointed as the divisional superintendent for Kiama.
In November last year, he also took on the same role in the Shoalhaven.
Paul was shocked to be awarded the honour of carrying the baton.
“I’ve never done anything like that before,” he said.
Paul’s mum, who nominated him, is extremely proud.
David Leigh and Kathleen Tanner will also carry the Queen’s baton in Kiama.
