Kiama SES has responded to six calls for assistance across the municipality, since the weather took a turn for the worse in the last 24-hours.

SES volunteer Andrew McCullough said the change of weather was a timely reminder for home-owners to prepare their properties for the impending storm season.
“As we move into the storm season with more of this type of weather on the way, now is the time to clean out gardens, trim branches that might be overhanging roofs and make sure gutters are cleared of debris,” he said.
It’s these things that cause damage after rain and wind.

Mr McCullough said the SES team had spent time putting up tarps at dwellings across Kiama and Gerringong.
“The majority of calls were for leaking roofs through light fittings and blocked drains,” he said.
‘It is a timely reminder that these storms cause damage.”
The wet weather is being caused by a low pressure system in central New South Wales that’s tracking southeast.
