Jamberoo Combined Sports will inherit $12,000 for an upgrade the seating and fencing at Kevin Walsh Oval.
Gerringong Netball Club recently scored state government funding to upgrade lighting at the courts, and Kiama District Sports Association will also contribute $10,000 to the project.
Jamberoo Football Club will be able to purchase new goalposts and nets at Keith Irvine Oval thanks to a $4000 boost.
The Kiama Sports Complex Users group will construct a covered BBQ area with a $4000 grant from the association.
The association sources funding from Kiama Council and its member affiliate sporting organisations.
These funds are then distributed to organisations that apply for assistance to complete various projects and to buy much-needed resources and facilities.
At its recent Annual General Meeting, the following community members were elected with committee roles:
President: Col Rathbone, Vice President: Paul Condon, Secretary: John Dawson, Assistant Secretary: Gail Gaynor, Treasurer: Vic East and Trust Fund Convenor: Craig Scott.
Past projects funded by the Kiama District Sports Association:
- Defibrillators (with the assistance of Kiama Council) to be installed at Kiama Sports Complex, Keith Irvine Oval (Jamberoo), Michael Cronin Oval (Gerringong) and Chittick Oval (Kiama)
- Shade sails and the major reconstruction of Kiama Netball Association courts
- Helped Kiama Cricket Club replace its turf wicket roller, repair damage to the turf wicket, replace of the nets at Bonaira Reserve and re-surface the wickets at Bonaira Reserve and Gainsborough Oval
- Helped Gerringong Rugby League Club to refurbish their clubhouse at Michael Cronin Oval
- Helped Gerringong Breakers Football Club purchase new goalposts and nets
- Helped Kiama Quarriers Football Club purchase new goalposts and nets
- Allowed Gerringong Cricket Club to replace its turf wicket roller and re-surfacing of the nets at Gerry Emery Oval
- Allowed Jamberoo All-Sports to upgrade facilities at Kevin Walsh Oval
