Destination Kiama has announced the ‘Kiama NYE Sky Show’ will be the biggest coastal show outside Sydney, including a bigger and better fireworks display, while introducing a series of laser light shows.
Destination Kiama has also teamed up with the Kiama and District Business Chamber to provide live music and an eat street precinct as part of the festivities.
Chair Matt Brown said the changes followed feedback from previous years.
“People enjoy coming to Kiama for the fireworks, but we were hearing that they are looking for even more to do throughout the evening,” Councillor Brown said.
“It is fantastic to be able to work closely with the Business Chamber to respond to this demand and give people a reason to stay longer.
“Now we are providing a wider range of entertainment, spread across a number of sites, both before and after the main fireworks.
“The best thing is we are working with local businesses to put together the program.”
The entertainment will begin at 5pm with the eat street precinct in Hindmarsh Park, with live music from 7pm. There will also be food stalls and entertainment along the harbour.
The traditional New Year’s Eve fireworks begin at 9pm. This year will see the fireworks followed by a series of laser light shows at 9.25pm, 9.45pm and 10.15pm.
“Kiama has become the place for families and friends to celebrate New Year’s Eve in a safe and friendly setting,” Cr Brown said.
“This year they will be able to make a full evening of their time in Kiama. Come down, have something to eat, listen to some great live music, then head down to our beautiful harbour for an amazing spectacle.”
