Although rain tried to dampen the second Kiama derby in as many weeks, nothing was stopping the boys from the under 12 Kiama Gold and Kiama White taking the field.

Kiama White batted first and put together an outstanding total of 165. Kiama Gold batted well and fought hard but couldn’t beat the pace and accuracy of White's bowlers. The game was played in good spirit and sportsmanship.
The under 14a team returned to Wiseman Park for the second day of their two-day game against Wests Illawarra on Saturday.
Defending their day one total of 5/195, the Kiama bowlers worked hard in wet slippery conditions. Mathew Laughton 1/26, Isaac Laughton 1/20, Will Prosser 1/17 and Joel Hensman 1/17 all bowled well throughout the day, but it was the bowling of Lachlan Patton 3/14 that saw Kiama gain the advantage.
Wests were travelling well at 2/100 off 21 overs. Kiama then regrouped to put in a dedicated team effort in the field eventually dismissing Wests for 160. Unfortunately Wests were a couple of players short, which put them at a disadvantage. However it was a great all round performance from Kiama that saw them end up with a victory to start the season.
In third grade, Kiama were up against Jamberoo at Bonaira Street Oval. Batting first, Kiama posted 7/280 from their 50 overs with opener Brad Creighton bringing up the Cavs first century of the season with an impressive 108.
Brad combined with Liam Mackrell (39) to put on 118 for the first wicket and set a solid platform for the Cavs to set a challenging total for Jamberoo side to chase. Unfortunately for Kiama the total was not quite enough as Jamberoo chased down the total in the last over. Ben Mulcahy was the pick of the bowlers with 2/22 off his ten overs.
Kiama second grade started their season with a solid away win over Lake Illawarra.
Sent into bat, Blake Harrison (51) and Zac Parker (28) put on 86 for the first wicket before falling in quick succession. Captain Ben Jones (65) and Nathan Barr (92) then helped the Cavs build towards an impressive total of 335 off their 50 overs.
In reply, Lake got off to a flyer with opener Cam Robinson bringing up his century inside 20 overs. Opener Glen Cleary did well to come away with figures of 2/52 off 10 overs given that he was bowling through the carnage of Robinson's brutal innings.
The Cavs stuck to their task well, knowing that one wicket would change the game dramatically. Daniel Reilly (4/25) was able to remove the danger man and turn the tide of the game. Englishman Luke Francis took 4/34 off his 10 overs to ensure the Cavs took control of the game and come away with the victory.
Even though the boys would be disappointed with going down against a strong Northern Districts team at Bellambi, they put in an improved effort and can take plenty of positives out of the performance.
With only nine players and eight bowlers available, it was a struggle to keep the runs down against the opposition. With Harrison Rollings as captain and Jai Salter (team player of the day) as vice captain, there was good enthusiasm and the boys kept at the opposition.
In the end there were too many runs to catch up on. A star performer hitting six fours and top scoring for the Cavs/Razorbacks was Ethan Healey, and Angus Munro put in another consistent effort whilst Rowan Healey showed toughness by retiring hurt when batting but coming back on later to put in extra effort for the team.
