Jamberoo Cricket Club had a very successful weekend with four of their five teams producing a victory in round two of the 2017/18 South Coast District Cricket season.

All five teams wore black armbands and conducted a minute of silence before play in honour of life member, club legend and long time supporter of Jamberoo cricket John Hanigan.
Second grade came away with their first victory of the 2017/18 season, when they defeated Oak Flats by one wicket in a nail biting and close game of cricket at Geoff Shaw Oval.
In a low scoring affair, the Bulls propelled their opponents to a final score of 150 as Brian Harris 3/25 and Adrian Stokes 3/26 were instrumental for Jamberoo, while Shaun Tweed 2/15, Kyle Stokes 1/13 and Will Hudson 1/19 also impressed.
Jamberoo certainly had a tough time during the early stages of their innings and were 7/74 after 20 overs. The Bulls showed plenty of spirit of determination with Will Hudson who conjured up an excellent match winning effort of 52 not out. Richard Jason Lewis 18, Shane Grant 15 and Jacob Hudson 14 all provided crucial knocks as Jamberoo finished the match at 9/154 with seven overs to spare.
An excellent run chase from Jamberoo third grade enabled them to cherish victory for the first time this season as they got the better of their arch rivals Kiama by six wickets at Bonaira Oval.
Jamberoo fought hard in the field as Nick Bruce 2/46, Matt Warby 2/48, James Ward 2/63 and Steve Bruce 1/43 clinched vital wickets during their spells as Kiama finished the innings with 7/280.
The Bulls fired out of the blocks with the bat as Josh Dun secured a rapid fire 50 before James Ward produced a handy innings of 32. After 22 overs Jamberoo were still in the hunt at 4/116 before Reece Conley and Matt Warby put on a master class of batting during their club record breaking fifth wicket partnership of 170. Conley hammered 11 fours and two sixes for well compiled 90 not out while Matt Warby was equally impressive during his unbeaten knock of 73 which secured Jamberoo’s score of 4/286.
Fourth grade continued their impressive start of 2017/18 season as they toppled Gerringong Cricket Club by 36 runs at Keith Irvine Oval on Saturday.
The hosts compiled a total of 9/251 as opening batsmen James Bullivant thrashed ten sixes and eight fours during his blistering maiden century score of 104. Troy Matthews 57 and Sam Fogarty 37* also stood out with the bat.
Excellent fielding and tight bowling paved the way for Jamberoo to restrict their opponents to a score of 215. Geoff Saunders was the pick of the bowlers taking 3/22 while Troy Matthews 2/8, Troy McParland 1/10, Aaron Spears 1/18 and Shaun McParland 1/45 all produced solid bowling performances.
The combined under 14Bs Jamberoo/Albion Park team prevailed in a low scoring affair by defeating Helensburgh Gold by five wickets at Keith Irvine Oval.
The away side were bowled out for 58 in just 15.1 overs thanks to a terrific fielding effort from Jamberoo/Albion Park. Andrew Meijer 2/8, Matilda Ockenden 1/3 and Matthew McGuire 1/6 produced top notch bowling performances.
Jamberoo/Albion Park reached the total with five wickets up their sleeve as Matthew Longhurst 22*and Hayden Pickering 18 stood out with the bat.
The Under 11Bs fell 28 runs short of The Rail Red’s total of 1/105 during their first game of the 2017/18 season at Keith Irvine Oval #2.
Jordan Poole won the Under 11s achievement award for his excellent top score of 26 and bowling figures of 0/6 of 3 overs while Cooper Anderson also impressed with a run out and figures of 0/7.
