The Whites batted first and posted a formidable total of 6/146 off their 30 overs with Blake Mackrell leading the way with a commanding unbeaten 51.
Kade Ovenden (33*) and Lachlan Martin (13) provided valuable contributions as well in finishing off the innings.
For the Blues, the wickets were shared between Jack Snelling (1/9), Damon Hensman (2/12) and Logan Lawler (1/17), with Jack also effecting a great run out.
The Blues set about chasing the formidable total but some tight bowling and fielding saw them fall short, posting 8/71 off 28 overs. Best with the bat was Lachlan Lawler (13), Kody Lawler (10) and Tom Wallace (13).
Special mention to Liam Mackrell who scored 77 for the under 14s in the morning and then 37* in the afternoon to guide 3rd Grade to victory and his brother Blake with 51* in the under 12s.
Pick of the bowlers for the Whites were the sublimely economical trio of Darcy Norris (3/3), Blake Mackrell (2/3) and Kade Ovenden.
A fantastic game played in great spirits by both teams to start the season.
The Cavalier Razorback under 14Bs went down in R1 in what was an excellent team effort from all the boys.
Well led by Oliver Hawkins (c) and Ethan Healy (vc) as a combined team between Kiama and The Rail, the boys have started the year well with plenty of good chat and encouragement.
Ben Pemberton had an excellent first dig for the season with a career best 17. One of the highlights was Harrison Rollings nearly picking up a hatrick in his first ever over in club cricket and with a good effort with the bat, he picked up the game ball player for the day.
Round 1 of the under 14As season saw Kiama v Wests Illawarra in a two-day game at Wisemans Park, Wollongong.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, Kiama didn't have the best start with the score at 2/8 off 8 overs.
Liam Mackrell and Cooper Harrison then combined for a fantastic 143 run partnership, scoring 64 and 77 respectively.
Good batting by Lachlan Patton 15 and Harry Creighton 9 saw Kiama reach 195 off their 50 overs.
The team, sponsored by Bell View Park Stud, will return next week to defend their total on day two.
It was an excellent start for the under 16As with a victory over Corrimal.
Batting first, Kiama scored 161 with Hugo Ikeda top scoring with 57, Soloman Ivanoff scored 32 and Jackson Anthony was not out for 31.
Kiama then dismissed Corrimal for 127, with an excellent team effort.
Jackson Anthony took 2/30, Soloman Ivanoff 1/14, Thomas Witheridge 1/24, Hugo Ikeda 1/15 and Hayden Allen 1/12. These bowling performances were backed up by excellent team fielding, highlighted by an exceptional catch by Soloman Ivanoff at mid-off.
In the afternoon, 3rd Grade began their premiership defence with a convincing win over The Rail in a grand final replay.
Winning the toss and bowling first, Steve Norris got Kiama off to a perfect start with 2 wickets in his first over.
While they had a couple of small partnerships in the middle, The Rail were never really able to recover from this poor start and were bowled out for 104 in the 26th over.
Ben Mulcahy was the main destroyer (4/41) with the rest of the wickets shared between Norris (3/19) Adam Mackrell (1/19) and Luke Francis (1/0).
The target was never going to be a problem for the strong Cavs batting line up. Continuing his form from the morning, U14s star Liam Mackrell anchored the innings with a well made 37* allowing the rest of the order to score freely and guide Kiama to victory at 3/107 in just 18 overs.
