The beach cricket clinic was a sell-out in only 24-hours once bookings were open to the public, with 100 kids aged between seven and 12 taking part in the program.
The kids were joined by former Australian International and Sixers WBBL Championship winning player Lisa Sthalekar, who was on-hand to give them some pointers.
“I played cricket for a long period of time for NSW, Australia and recently the Sydney Sixers for the last two years and I was fortunate enough to be part of the winning squad,” she said.
“Commentating is really my next career, so it’s starting to get pretty busy, I certainly enjoyed my time with the Sydney Sixers and now it’s time to help out and be supportive – they’re a wonderful team and club.”
Sixers Beach Blast is a great concept in the sense that they go up and down the coast of NSW, giving kids the opportunity to become involved with cricket.

Ms Sthalekar said the Beach Blast was a great way to introduce kids to cricket.
“Sixers Beach Blast is a great concept in the sense that they go up and down the coast of NSW, giving kids the opportunity to become involved with cricket,” she said.
“It’s a great opportunity for them to start to think about cricket and hopefully join their local club.
“We were in Cronulla yesterday, which was a little bit windy but a great day, Kiama has put on the perfect weather for us.”
The Beach Bash stopped at 12 locations along the coast from Tweed Heads in the north to Kiama.
“This is the second year we have run it, every stop so far has been booked out, and they have all been awesome,” Sydney Sixers fan, activation and community manager Liz McPherson said.
“The main aim is to drive these kids to their local cricket club, and we had some great success with the conversion last year, this year we’re hoping for even better results.
“Today, looking at the data we have about 51 kids who were brand new to cricket, so hopefully they will go to Kiama Cricket Club or others in the area.”
Ms McPherson said the Beach Bash was the perfect way to support cricket clubs throughout their large territory.
“It’s incredible for us to be able to reach other parts of our region,” she said.
“This is a great community engagement tool to show our fans that we are there, we care and we want to give them as much support as they show us.”
Sydney Sixers partnered with NSW Surf Life Saving to deliver to program to the community.
