‘Connecting over Fair Food’ is an annual event organised by Food Fairness Illawarra as part of National Fair Food Week from October 7 – 16.
The evening involves a range of speakers discussing ethical and sustainable food production, as well as businesses exhibiting locally sourced and produced food.
Dylan Powell, who coordinated Intergen Munchout, will be speaking about the success of the program, which recently won the Heart Foundation Local Government Award.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to connect and share information about Intergen Munchout with people, organisations and businesses concerned with good nutrition, sustainable and locally produced food and the social benefits of both,” Mr Powell said.
Other local speakers include Chris Bridge from Mahbrook Organics and Donna Walsh from Warrawong Community Lunch.
Fair food advocate and lecturer Sandy Murray from the University of Tasmania is the keynote speaker.
There will also be expo stalls from Green Connect, Hidden Harvest and Darkes Cider.
Everyone is welcome, with entry by donation, however bookings are essential and can be made online at: www.foodfairnessillawarra.org.au.
‘Connecting over Fair Food’ is supported of Shellharbour City, Wollongong City and Kiama Municipal councils.
Details: Wednesday, October 11, from 6pm at The Pavilion, Kiama.
