Last Thursday evening we had our meeting at the Olive and Vine restaurant, it was a social one with wives, partners and guests. The surprise part came with the cabaret! It is wonderful to know that Elvis is still alive! What a fun night that turned out to be.
At the recent Council meeting the Carer's cottage passed the penultimate hurdle by getting the final nod for the re-zoning. The file is now sent to the State planners in Wollongong for the final ticks in the box. Then, and only then, can we submit our DA. In the meantime, we continue with cladding the exterior.
Last weekend was busy running the Car Boot Sale or Second-hand Saturday.
KIAMA ROTARY
Right now, around 85 million people around the world have been made homeless by natural disasters and conflict. Kiama Rotary continues to work on helping change this. Although individually we can only make a small difference, last week we donated another Shelterbox to the international aid program and made a difference for one family. We have now donated over 30 boxes to this wonderful project.
By providing emergency shelter and tools for families robbed of their homes by disaster, we’re transforming despair into hope.
Last weekend a group of club members and partners travelled to Canberra on the opening weekend of the Floriade Festival to assist the members of the Canberra East Club to run “Gnome Knoll”.
We have two fund-raising events coming up in October. Firstly, we will join Kiama Lions and other friends of BlueHaven at the annual BlueHaven Fete on Saturday, October 7, 2017.
Secondly, six talented choirs will perform at Kiama Rotary’s Festival of Choirs to be held at the Kiama Pavilion on Sunday, October 8, 2017. Light refreshments will be served. Advance tickets sales are located at Kiama Newsagency, 68 Terralong Street.
