Kiama singer-songwriter Joe Mungovan finished high school five years ago and still lives with his parents.

He doesn’t mind though as he’s not home a lot.
“I’ve got so much gear so I just leave it at their place; and I’ve got a van that I travel around in,” Mungovan said.
He estimates spending around nine or 10 months “in transit somewhere”, playing his indie roots music to venues around Australia.
Coming from a small town Mungovan admits he never realised just how much the landscape of the country changes between cities.
“I think the diversity of Australia is what makes each place so special,” he said.
“There’s so many beautiful places, I’m so lucky to be able to drive around and play music.”
The hardest part of being on the road for so long for Mungovan is not being able to have a “comfortable space” to write his music. Although he said the experiences do become ample creative fodder for his songs.

Renting some space on a farm or a quiet AirBnB is the ideal place for the musician to write and record, the majority on his trusty laptop.
His third EP is to be released later this year and was recorded in Kiama, Kangaroo Valley, the Central Coast and in Victoria.
With the help of producer Tim Carr the latest single. “Steppin Outta Line”, sounds very slick.
