The cyclists are riding 150 kilometres from Bondi to Berry to raise awareness and funds for dementia research during Dementia Awareness Month.
All proceeds from the ride will be going to Alzheimer’s Australia.
Riders will arrive at Kiama Showground at approximately 11.45am for a one-hour pit stop.
Members of the Dementia-Friendly Kiama Project will be on hand to welcome the group and acknowledge the work of the riders.
The Alzheimer’s Australia Memory Van will be there to provide information on dementia, while the Kiama Blowhole Buskers will be there to provide musical support and entertainment.
Dementia awareness
- More than 353,800 Australians live with a dementia-related disease, most commonly Alzheimer’s disease.
- That number is predicted to climb to 900,000 by 2050.
- Dementia is the second biggest cause of death in Australia, and there is currently no cure.
- An estimated 1.2 million Australians are caring for someone with dementia.
