The current board at the Gerringong Bowling Club is approaching re-election with a voting period for financial members between August 27 and September 2.
The Gerringong Bowlo Revival Crew are made up of a group of experienced professionals who live in Gerringong and Gerroa with backgrounds in the legal, financial, hotel, and defence industry, as well as local and state government.
Those nominated for the board include;
- Sandra McCarthy (Chair).
- Glenn Kolomeitz (formerly CEO of NSW RSL).
- Martin Smith (local business owner).
- Cherie Burton (former Government Minister and Member of NSW Parliament).
- Nicole Vernon-Rogers (CPA).
- Philip Vernon-Rogers (local business owner and former policeman).
We believe that it is time to freshen up the board with a more diverse range of skills and experience, as well as a younger, more professional and dynamic board of directors that reflects the desires of the community-at-large for a more contemporary bowl; one that all age groups are excited to visit, and one that also attracts new visitors to the area.
- The Gerringong Bowlo Revival Crew.
The Gerringong Bowlo Revival Crew believes the township is a dynamic community of older residents and younger families and single people which is currently experiencing extraordinary growth including an influx of working families from Greater Sydney.
This growth also provides opportunities for local businesses such as the Gerringong Bowling and Recreation Club to become a venue of choice for locals and to attract more visitors to the area on a regular basis.
“We would like to bring more innovative and insightful strategic leadership to the board of the club in order to take full advantage of opportunities to make the club a modern venue with contemporary facilities for the benefit of all members,” Glenn Kolomeitz said.
“Without abandoning the core function of the club – lawn bowls – our vision for Gerringong Bowling and Recreation Club is one of local relevance and global reputation.
“Rather than seeing our children and grandchildren travel to Wollongong for a night’s entertainment, they can stay local for a night at the bowlo. When travel guides promote Gerringong as the holiday destination of choice, we envisage the bowlo as being the key attraction to the area.
“We want to be the board of choice for the club of choice.”
There will be two events on August 27 and September 2 at the Barefoot Bar from 12 – 2pm for people to attend, talk about what they’d like to see improved at the bowlo, and cast their vote for the new board of directors.
Voting for the Board of Directors will be held between August 27 and September 2.
All current financial members of the Bowling Club should have received notice of the election in the mail, and are invited to submit their vote in person at the bowlo or by proxy.
