You might have seen the busy bakers at the Kiama Farmers Market over the last couple of weeks and today they set up shop outside Xanado Natural Pet Care on Manning Street.
“We’re raising money for the RSPCA by selling cupcakes and little doggie treats,” Rachel Sparkes said.
“We’ve done pretty well, we’ve raised about $300 so far and we’re trying to reach the goal of $500.”
Fellow organiser Carla Beauchamp admits she has a particularly passion for her canine companions.
“I just have an obsession with dogs,” she said.
“I have a nine year-old boxer with three legs and a one-year old boxer and they are my life.
“We’re thinking of doing a few more farmers markets, we’re going to head there tomorrow and possibly next week.”
RSPCA Cupcake Day gathers bakers from across the nation to make a stand for animal welfare.
The funds raised through will help rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome the 135,000 animals that come through RSPCA shelters every year.
