It has been a very successful year for Kiama Red Cross.
As a small branch with a big heart, they work well together to benefit the Red Cross programs they are passionate about.
This year the group was involved in Anzac Day, Remembrance Day and the Mayor’s Giving Tree among others.
Highlights for the year included receiving the Chairman’s Shield for the country branch raising the most funds for Red Cross Calling, the Australian Red Cross Distinguished Team Award for organising the very successful Fun Run in June and hosting the Zone Conference.
In addition to the above, they group held other fund raisers, including a Bunnings barbecue, Christmas stall, Christmas raffle and Mother’s Day raffle.
“Our thanks go out to the Kiama Business Chamber, Kiama Council, Minnamurra Lions, Kiama Lions, Kiama Girl Guides also to the many Kiama businesses and members of the community who graciously support us in our various fund raising activities,” publicity officer Gill Diver said.
“Many Red Cross activities have benefitted from the funds we send to Red Cross Headquarters, for example, local Telecross and Learner Driver programmes and Breakfast Club.
“In addition, we have supported the Disaster and Emergency programme, Big Cake Bake, Doing It Tough and General Funds.”
