Kiama Council is about to commence a community engagement period during which feedback will be sought on a draft Development Control Plan (DCP) for Jamberoo.
Director of environmental services, Phil Costello, said the draft DCP had been created to address concerns from Jamberoo residents.
“The Jamberoo community has raised concerns about recent development and village character, loss of agricultural land, increased traffic and how all this will reduce its appeal to tourists,” Mr Costello said.
“Council’s Planning Committee, which includes council staff, councillors and members of the public, has drafted this DCP to address those concerns.”
Copies of the draft DCP are available for viewing at Council’s Administration Building or on Council’s website: www.kiama.nsw.gov.au.
We are now looking for residents to have their say as part of delivering a final plan.

“We are now looking for residents to have their say as part of delivering a final plan,” Mr Costello said.
“Our planners are available to answer questions and help people wanting to make submissions.”
Copies will also be available at the Kiama Council Pop-Up Shop, which will be at the Jamberoo School of Arts on Tuesday, August 1.
“We have extended the normal public comment period to 60 days to give people time to read the draft DCP and prepare their comments,” Mr Costello said.
“We have also organised two community planning workshops allowing residents to work directly with council’s professional planners to fine-tune the draft.”
The workshops are being held at Jamberoo School of Arts on Tuesday, September 5 at 1pm and Thursday, September 7 at 7pm.
Residents wishing to take part are encouraged to book a place by phoning (02) 4232 0444 or emailing council@kiama.nsw.gov.au.
Written submissions (quoting SC2702) can be made until 4pm on 29 September 2017, via email to council@kiama.nsw.gov.au or mail to: General Manager, PO Box 75, Kiama NSW 2533.
