Wednesday, July 5: Where’s Wally is turning 30 and to celebrate he’ll be appearing at the Library for its Where’s Wally extravaganza from 10.30am.
The event is ideal for kids between 5 and 12 and only costs $3.
The kids are encouraged to come dressed as Wally or one of his friends Wenda, Wizard Whitebeard or that scoundrel Odlaw.
Tuesday, July 4: The holiday program also includes a free bush medicine and sand art activity from 2pm, as part of NAIDOC week celebrations.
Kids aged five to 10 can have their face painted with ochre, learn all about bush medicine and make Australian native animal sand art.
Tuesday, July 11: There’ll also be the usual holiday favourites of free kids’ movies and LEGO family night at 6pm.
Wednesday, July 12: For the budding fashionistas the Kiama Knitters Guild is hosting a Working with Yarn session at 10am, which costs $3.
Both the Where’s Wally and Working Yarn events need to be booked and paid for in person, reservations for other holiday events can be made by phoning (02) 4233 1133.
Of course it’s not all about the kids this winter with the Library offering something for the grown-ups as well.
Friday, July 21: Acclaimed author Kate Forsyth will be coming to Kiama Library in July as part of the launch of her newest book Beauty in Thorns.
As the author of ‘Bitter Greens’ and ‘Dancing On Knives’, Forsyth has established herself as one of Australia’s leading names in historical fiction. Recognised internationally as an expert in the field of fairy tale retellings.
This free author talk and book signing will be held at 2pm with copies of Kate’s book available for purchase and signing. Call 4233 1133 to reserve your seat.
Wednesday, August 23: The Library has also teamed up with the Kiama Farmers Market to celebrate Children’s Book Week (August 18 – 25) with a pop-up library at the markets.
Join a story time session, stroll along our book walk, read a picture book and make some seaside craft. It promises to be a great afternoon for kids and adults alike.
