David Miller AM, widely recognised as one of Australia's leading pianists, will introduce and accompany six of his most accomplished young students playing solo and ensemble pieces and from a varied classical repertoire which includes Mozart, Handel, Faure, Thomas Arne, Schubert and Piazzola.
Four students form the ‘Coil Saxophone Quartet’ – Chung Him Chu, Xiao Han, Jasmine-Jade Mills and Travers Keirle.
CHUNG HIM CHU plays the soprano saxophone. Chung is studying at the conservatorium for his bachelor degree. He performs actively in Sydney and Hong Kong and has won prizes in worldwide competitions.
XIAO HAN is an emerging concert saxophonist and plays the alto saxophone. He has received a number of prestigious awards both in Singapore and Hong Kong.
JASMINE-JADE MILLS tenor saxophone has a BA in classical music and is studying for a diploma of Music at the conservatorium. She is in numerous wind ensembles. She also has experience in conducting.
TRAVERS KEIRLE plays baritone saxophone. Travers is in his final year studying a Bachelor of Performance. He is a member of the Sydney Saxophone Orchestra and a key member of the psychedelic funk group Thunder Fox.
The quartet is joined by soprano Jane Anderson and classical guitarist George Wills.
JANE ANDERSON has a broad musical background singing soprano and playing piano and viola. She is second year of a Bachelor of Music in classical voice.
GEORGE WILLS is a solo classical guitarist with a 1st class bachelor of music from Tekoki New Zealand School of Music and currently studying a Master of Music in Performance. He also works as an active chamber musician.
Tickets are $20 at the door (on sale from 1.30pm) and afternoon tea is available. Entry is FREE for children, students and members of Gerringong Music Club.
