Following a decision by council to conduct an audit on the public amenities under their management, we invited you to vote for the worst one in the municipality, and there was an overwhelming reaction to one poor, forgotten toilet which had obviously caused discontent in the community.
Ladies and gentlemen without any further ado, the worst public toilets in the Kiama Municipality according to our readers are the Kevin Walsh Sports Fields amenities.
The Jamberoo based toilets knocked all the others out of the park with 47 per cent of voters deciding it was the the most terrible, followed by the Black Beach Reserve toilets accumulating 28 per cent of votes.
So, armed with our reader’s recommendation we headed out to inspect the toilet and this is what we found.
Missing window louvres…….
We think the widely used term is ‘renovators dream’.
And in some cases no window louvres……
Less is more.
A clearance dilemma highlighted by spray paint to alert unsuspecting toilet users.
Obviously built in an era when smaller humans roamed the earth. We wonder how many times this happened before the spray was applied?
An ambitious plant……
Blurring the boundaries between inside and outside is very ‘now’ in interior design.
And our personal favourite – an open air situation…...complete with artwork.
On a positive note, nobody can argue this isn’t an extremely well ventilated toilet.
