The Kiama Bowling Club has not one but two pennant teams in the zone grand final, in what can only be described as a huge effort from the players.

Threes captain Murray Sheather will lead the charge against Towradgi this weekend.
“We won eight out of 10 games, then we lost the semi-final, then won the final to be in the position to play in the grand-final,” he said.
“I think we are a very good chance of winning it and bringing the flag home to Kiama.”
Mr Sheather has been playing bowls for 15 years.
“I was at Shellharbour until it closed and then I came down here for a friendly game of bowls and stayed,” he said.
“I love everything about the club, the friendship, the whole organisation, everything down here is very family oriented.”
Captain of the fives Wayne Richardson, has been a member of Kiama Bowling Club for 10 years.
“We’ve got a pretty competitive team so we are in with a chance,” he said.
“We won six of the 10 games, like the other team we lost our semi and won the final.”
Bowls secretary Adam Rodgers said it was very rare for a small club, like Kiama, to have two sides compete in the grand final simultaneously.
“It hasn’t been done here for a very long time, if at all, so it is a big achievement for these two sides to be both there at the same time,” he said.
“With any luck we will have both flags hanging over the bar this weekend.”
Kiama Bowling Club president Martin Wilson was over the moon to see both teams make their way to the grand final.
“I’m absolutely stoked for the guys to get through, they have played awesome all year, they fully deserve the position they’ve got the club in now with two grand finalists there,” he said.
“All credit goes to the selectors as well, there’s a lot of pressure during the year to pick the right combinations and they’ve got it right this year.
“To those people who have helped throughout the year, who cook the BBQ and our bar staff who help create it’s a brilliant vibe around the club.”
Mr Wilson threw in an extra special incentive for the two teams if they were triumphant this weekend.
“We couldn’t be happier for them and I’m sure they will win, and if they do, there will be free beer waiting for them all,” he laughed.
