Sue Thorley, Robert Sciacchitano, Kane Guglielmi, Liz Lewis and James Cook will join Cr Brown and Cr Steel and general manager of Kiama Council Michael Forsyth on the committee.
“I was overwhelmed by the quality of all the people who put themselves forward to serve on the Kiama Tourism Advisory Committee,” chair of the committee, Councillor Matt Brown said.
“All were worthy candidates, however what we have with the five members is a balance of age, geography and the industries they work in. Having the committee established is a big step towards this exciting new era of tourism for the Kiama Municipality.”
Sue Thorley said she was looking forward to collaboratively developing a long-term sustainable tourism plan.
“Kiama has already done a great job, establishing and developing itself as a prominent regional tourist destination,” she said.
“The board will need to review, consolidate and build a strategic and sustainable plan for the future."
As a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, Mrs Thorley brings practical guidance with regards to governance and compliance.
"I relocated from Sydney last year. Being new to the area, I have a fresh set of eyes on the region and its tourism opportunities,” she said.
“I am delighted and honoured to be appointed to the Advisory Board and look forward to working together for the benefit of Kiama and surrounds."
Kiama Council is advertising for the position of manager of tourism and events. Applications close May 28.
