“It’s very unusual for a pipe band to busk, but we did in Cooma last year and had a ball, so we’re delighted to be coming to Narooma’s festival,” said general manager and Pipe Major Graham Durant-Law. “It will be great.”
Narooma Festival co-ordinator Sandra Doyle said busker registrations are now starting to flow in.
“We’ve received them from as far away as Bourke, from Victoria and all over southeastern NSW including a few locals,” she said.
“We’re still hoping to receive more from young Narooma musicians.”
Organisers are hoping for about 70 buskers for the 29 busking hot spots around Narooma sponsored by adjoining businesses.
“There’s tremendous excitement about the busking competition, including among many business owners many of whom have donated prizes. There are some great cash prizes to be won.”
Organisers would appreciate a few more volunteers to help with the smooth running of the day. Contact Mrs Doyle on 0408 298 233 or Sandra@spinninggums.com.au.
The ANBC has grown over the last six years from being held exclusively in Cooma to being a national event this year with regional competitions in Stanthorpe, Noosa and Ballarat, as well as in Narooma.
Winners from regional events will be invited to compete in the National Grand Final in Cooma in November.
