One way they plan on doing this is by encouraging one and all to attend their annual Jazz Breakfast Fundraiser at the Church on the Mall.
Wesley Community Centre coordinator Karen Zaini said there had been a big spike in the number of people seeking emergency food relief.
‘’I thought our numbers were up when we served 1330 lunches in February, but then our records showed we served 1760 lunches in March. That’s an increase of 30 per cent in just one month,’’ she said.
Rev Flynn said help was needed.
‘’To date we have been able to meet the increased demand by drawing on our reserves,’’ he said.
‘’It is timely though that our annual Easter Jazz Breakfast fundraiser is happening again on April 16. It would be fantastic if we could pack the Wesley Hall.’’
For the early risers and those who want something other than chocolate for breakfast, "Captain Bob's Stationhouse Ramblers" will be playing in the Wesley Hall from 8am.
‘’Bring your dancing shoes and make a difference this Easter,’’ Rev Flynn said.
Meantime, Captain Bob’s Stationhouse Ramblers will also play at Corrimal Hotel on Saturday, April 15. Details www.illawarrajazzclub.com
