The Kiama Friends of Vision Australia recently hosted a successful High Tea in the Community Centre, Hindmarsh Park.
The one hundred guests were treated to a variety of tasty delights for afternoon tea, all provided by the members.
An interesting talk was given by Gaelima Gool, assistant principal of Corrimal High School, on methods of teaching visually impaired students and the innovations that are being implemented at the school.
Another guest speaker was Aboudi Sawan, a year 11 student at Wollongong High School and a sufferer of congenital glaucoma.
He highlighted what can be achieved by people with low vision
Kiama Friends of Vision Australia president Denese Williams was thrilled with the afternoon and thanked all members for their efforts that made the afternoon such a great success, with $2500 raised for Vision Australia.
The group’s next planned fundraiser is a Christmas in July event.
