The 15th Annual Blowhole Big Fish Classic will take place on April 1-2 at Kiama Harbour.
Kiama Game Fishing Club president Mark Way said the great game fishing off Kiama has typically been highlighted by the Kiama club’s annual tournament.
The Classic is expected to draw up to 50 boats from Sydney to Batemans Bay and Canberra, with more than 100 competitors.
There are two divisions, capture and tag and release for boats, with entrants competing for the 18 prize categories.
“While the fish and sharks are large and quite spectacular, these days only a few are weighed in with emphasis on tag and release,” Mr Way said. “Sometimes spectators are disappointed at not seeing more fish at the weigh station with over 90 per cent on average tagged and released. Still, the few big fish and sharks weighed are spectacular.”
