Kiama council’s director of engineering and works Gino Belsito said the new table featured a granite top, providing a high-quality cutting and cleaning surface.
“The table also has three in-built taps for easy cleaning while filleting, and is sloped away where you would stand for easy drainage,” Mr Belsito said.
“We’ve also constructed a roof over the table for shade while cleaning, and it has in-built lighting for those out on the water very early (or very late).”
The new table replaces the old facility which was badly damaged in severe storms in 2016.
“This table is a significant improvement in many ways, including the solid footing we’ve established, which should weather similar storms,” Mr Belsito said.
The new table was designed by cadet engineer Michael Wilkinson, as his first project for Kiama council, and constructed by council’s boilermaker Morgan Ellerson.
