But that doesn't mean all men die equally. Some are dispatched off-screen, while others go out with a bang.
Game of Thrones has killed off hundreds of characters across its six seasons (and with two more seasons to come there's likely to be plenty more). Now, fans finally know which of the many grissly deaths to choose from was the most expensive.
After all, HBO is no stranger to massive budgets. Season two's the Battle of Blackwater reportedly cost more than $8 million to produce the single scene- breaking the budget set aside for an entire episode in Game of Throne's early days.
While speaking at the SXSW conference in Texas earlier this week, GoT showrunner David Benioff was quizzed about which on-screen death hit the HBO purse strings the hardest.
The answer, surprisingly, wasn't the moment Margaery Tyrell and the High Sparrow were blown to smithereens inside the Great Sept of Baelor.
The most expensive death to film was a slightly more low-key, but equally heart-racing encounter between Arya Stark and nemesis Meryn Trant.
The scene, which is from the season five finale, lasts no more than three minutes. It involves Arya, played by British actress Maisie Williams, brutally stabbing out her victim's eyes with a small knife.
"You're the first person on my list, you know," she says as Trant lies dying. "Do you know who I am? I'm Arya Stark. Do you know who you are? You're no one. You're nothing."
Asked why that particular scene was so expensive to film, Benioff suggested there were some special prosthetics involved.
"She couldn't really poke out his [actual] eyes," he said, according to Radio Times.
