Despite standing down from his long-time role as festival music director, he also plans to remain involved in the event.
The Kiama Jazz and Blues Festival celebrated 30 years of groove by the sea in 2017.
There were more than 80 free gigs at more than 30 venues from March 10-12.
Gigs took place at a number of venues in Kiama, Kiama Downs, Gerringong and Jamberoo.
On the Sunday in Hindmarsh Park, Kiama Jazz and Blues Club president and festival director Steve Ivory presented Mr Eggleton with a painting (by Kiama artist Mikey Freedom) in recognition of his 14 years’ work as festival music director.
Mr Eggleton said he planned to remain involved and be on the festival committee.
“I love doing it, but I need… It’s very time-consuming for a few months of the year,” he said.
He joked that he would now have more time to go trout fishing.
“It’s been exceptionally rewarding,” he said of the directorial role.
“To deal with all the musicians is great; they’re all talented, and very interesting people.
“Seeing the festival grow has been fantastic.
“The festival has really been embraced by the community, and it’s been great to be a part of it.”
