And perhaps there's another to add to that warbly canon: Kate McKinnon in the upcoming comedy, Rough Night.
McKinnon, the popular comedian praised for her on-point impressions of Hillary Clinton and Kellyanne Conway on Saturday Night Live, left viewers side-eyeing her mangled twang in the trailer for the film, released by studio Sony Pictures this week.
"I love Kate McKinnon but after living in Australia for almost three years I can say her accent in the Rough Night trailer is horrendous," one online commenter quipped.
"Was Rose Byrne busy?" asked another, citing Hollywood's recent go-to Aussie funny lady.
While McKinnon's no Dev Patel in Lion (who earned raves for his natural take on Saroo Brierley's Tassie intonation), this film's no end-of-year Oscar bait either.
In what promises to be another fun turn for the actress, a breakout in last year's Ghostbusters where she played off-kilter gadget engineer Dr Jillian Holtzman, McKinnon plays Pippa, an earnest musician from Australia.
"Pippa, what are you doing for work these days?" a fellow character asks her in the film's risqu?? red band trailer.
"Well, singer-songwriter is the dream, party clown is the reality," she slurs, sounding like Pauline Hanson the morning after a wild One Nation office party (uh, I imagine).
It's not the first time McKinnon's tried her hand at an Aussie accent: she did a goofy impression of Mullumbimby rapper Iggy Azalea on a episode of SNL in 2015 that was co-hosted by Chris Hemsworth.
Penned by Lucia Aniello and Paul Downs, the team behind hit comedy Broad City, Rough Night also stars Scarlett Johansson, Ilana Glazer, Zoe Kravitz and Jillian Bell as college friends who reunite ten years later for a nutty bachelorette weekend in Miami.
It's all boozy fun and games - until they accidentally kill a male stripper.
As Johansson has noted in interviews, the film borrows heavily from well-tread 'boys gone wild' movie tropes, coming across like a gender-flipped version of 1998's disturbing Very Bad Things, peppered with the morbid hijinks of Weekend At Bernie's and The Hangover.
The film's script, featured among 2015's Black List of best unproduced screenplays under its original title Move That Body, was at the centre of a heated bidding war among Hollywood's major studios.
It opens in cinemas on June 15.
