Matt Gale was the standout for Werri in the four-team final of the men’s division, scoring the highest individual wave of the event with 9.83.
The Werri team scored the following in the final: Doug Chandler (12.94); Matt Gale (19.1); Dean Bowen (20.7); Cam Bennett (8.36); and Tully Robinson (2.2).
“Stoked with the result, we came up against some really strong clubs and stuck to our game plan and it paid off,” Bennett said.
“It's great having an experienced competitor like Dean Bowen in the team to point us in the right direction and the rest of the team love to compete. This format of competition is really exciting in that anything can happen and it’s not over until the hooter blows. I can’t wait to head to the Northern Beaches for the Australian Championships (on May 13-14).”
