The movie is set on the volcanic island of Tanna in the South Pacific and depicts the true story of a couple who decided to marry for love, rather than obey their parents' wishes.
It’s been selected for Best Foreign Language Film at the 89th Academy Awards on Monday.
Butler will discuss the film in Q&A style post viewing and hopes the audience leave with newfound knowledge.
“The majority of Australians aren’t aware of the fantastic cultures on our doorstep and the fact there are some vibrant traditional cultures so close to Australia,” he said.
“Very much we’re hoping this almost unique culture, because there are so few that have stayed in traditional lifestyles, is brought to a much bigger audience [through the film].
“You want people to be totally engaged by the film you want them to feel they’re learning something, going some places where they haven’t been before.”
Other films scheduled for viewing include Snowden, Love and Friendship, The Light Between Oceans, Elle and Money Monster.
